This module adds dedicated utility buttons to your Commodore 64 Ultimate for convenience and functionality. With a quick reach to the back of the computer you no longer have to remember special presses of the multi-function power switch to access the Menu, Reset, or Special functionality. (The latter is used by cartridge images where the physical cartridge had a button, notably "freezer" cartridges such as Super Snapshot or Action Replay.)

Installation

The module installs with no drilling, fasteners, or adhesives. Refer to Appendix G of the C64U User's Guide for connector locations as needed.

Disconnect the power cable (and probably all others) from the computer.
Open the computer case by removing the three screws along the front of the bottom. They can be tight from the factory. Use the appropriate size screwdriver to avoid damage.
Disconnect the keyboard and LED cables to remove the top of the case.
Connect the buttons device to the four-pin "Buttons" connector on the mainboard, to the left of the FPGA board (No. 16 in the user's guide). Orient it so that the black or red wire connects to the pin labeled GND.
Slide the buttons module into the open switch slot between the audio (No. 5) and cartridge (No. 4) connectors. The tapered side of the retainer should face downward and slide down between the audio daughterboard and C64 case so that the top of the retainer sits flush with the top edge of the C64 case.
Replace the top of the case, reconnecting the LEDs and keyboard.
Replace the three case screws.
Reinsert the power and other cables.
Power on and enjoy!

Functions

The mainboard connector labels the button connections as "Left", "Middle", and "Right", and this is how they map to the physical buttons. In the normal/default configuration these correspond to:

Middle	Menu	Between the other two
Right	Reset	Nearest the cartridge port

Ordered 4th Feb, arrived 19th Feb. Very easy to install, and works perfectly as described. The seller is very good with him communication and customer service as well. I recommend this to anyone who grew up with using a classic freezer cartridge back in the day (Like the Action Replay mk6), reaching over to the back of the computer and pressing a reset or freeze button feels more nostalgic than the multifunction rocker switch on the side.

Got the Starlight flavor and it matches the look. Installation was a breeze. It slides right in and the location feels so natural. Being able to use the left button for your cartridges: priceless. Brings back happy memories of the reset button on my KCS Power Cartridge back in the day.
This product is close to being a "must have"!!!

A great much needed utility button for those who are using utility cartridge images rather than the physical cartridge on their C64U such as the Action Replay Mk6, as at present there is no freeze function on the C64U with the ROM images.
Even if there is in a future firmware update, it still makes it more.convenient in providing the same 3 button feel as with the 1541 Ultimate+ cartridge.
Easy installation as shown in the images. Just plug and play. Fits comfortably in the back of the machine for easy access.
It also saves wear and tear on your reset rocker switch, although C= and Restore also does the job.
Highly recommended.

Works great! Compatible with the Ultimate 64 Elite II

Although this is advertised for the C64 Ultimate, it also works with the Ultimate 64 Elite II and the RetroFusion case. Installation takes less than 5 minutes and works as advertised. I plan on ordering another for my Starlight.
