0ldSkull NFC Reader
This complete and fully assembled NFC tag reader (tap) device is designed for use with the TeensyROM C64 cartridge. It can be used to easily program NFC "tags" which can then be used to launch a program by touching the tag to the device. It has been tested with the TeensyROM though is also likely usable with other devices/software.
Ten NFC cards are included which work with the TeensyROM's NFC loading capability. If you're shopping for more tags, NTAG215 cards/tokens/stickers are widely available and recommended.
You will need a USB A to C data cable (not included) for use with the TeensyROM. (Please ensure that the cable supports data transfer and not just charging.)
Appearance
The 3D-printed case body has a glittery appearance which changes from blue to purple with the angle of the light. The top surface is transparent and smooth (like a clearcoat), with a holographic laser-beams imprint and the device power LED visible through the 0ldSkull logo. I've tried to capture these effects in the photos, but it really must be seen!
Technical Information
The compact 64x64x18mm enclosure houses a PN532 type NFC reader module coupled with a CH340N USB interface, details which may be relevant if you're selecting NFC tags or want to interface with other devices.
If you have trouble writing a card, try holding it at an upward angle above or next to the device. (Reading tends to be extremely easy, but writing can be a bit particular about placement and interference.)
